Performance and application fields of different rubbers
1. Natural rubber (NR) has comprehensive performance and simple processing technology. Its disadvantages are that its oil resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, chemical resistance, aging resistance and other properties are too poor, far inferior to other synthetic rubbers. It is mainly used in tires, hoses, tapes, medical supplies, sports goods and some other industrial products.
2. Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) has comprehensive performance comparable to that of natural rubber, while its wear and heat aging properties are better than those of natural rubber. It is used in combination with natural rubber and a variety of synthetic rubbers, has good processing performance and is a general-purpose rubber. It is mainly used in hoses, tires, tapes, rubber shoes, and various industrial rubber products.
3. Butadiene rubber (BR) has good processing performance, excellent wear resistance and elasticity, less heat generation, and good low temperature resistance. It also has good flex resistance, but its disadvantages are poor tear strength and slip resistance. It is widely used in tires, hoses, tapes, rubber shoes and other rubber products.
4. Chloroprene rubber (CR) has good performance in ozone resistance, weathering resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance, flame retardancy, insulation, water resistance, air tightness, tensile strength, etc. The disadvantage is poor cold resistance and high specific gravity (density). It is suitable for hoses, tapes, conveyor belts, wires and cables, air conditioning rubber products, and sealing products such as construction, ships, and automobiles.
5. Nitrile rubber (NBR) can be used for a long time at temperatures below 120 degrees, with good air tightness (second only to butyl rubber) and excellent oil resistance, wear resistance, tear resistance and other performance functions (Note: This material belongs to semiconductor rubber, so it is not suitable for insulating products) It is suitable for automobiles and machinery hoses, seals, cable sheaths, sponge products, etc.
6. Hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR) can be used for a long time in a working environment of -40-180 degrees, with good processing performance, high strength, excellent wear resistance, small permanent deformation, and unique resistance to ozone and hydrogen sulfide. Applicable to engine sealing products, oil seals, oil fields, rubber products for drill pipes, low-temperature oil pipes, air conditioning pipes, and electronic system protection parts.
7. EPDM has excellent heat resistance, ozone resistance, weather aging resistance, low temperature resistance, electrical insulation resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and other properties. It is widely used in construction, automobiles, ship door and window seals, wires and cables, automobiles, motorcycle parts and other industrial products.
8. Silicone rubber (SR) can be used in a working environment of -60-120 degrees for a long time. It is transparent, non-toxic and odorless with good insulation performance and good processing performance. The disadvantage is that the wear resistance, tear resistance, oil resistance and chemical resistance are poor. It is widely used in electric heating appliances, electronic and electrical industries, aviation, national defense, machinery, construction industry, medical treatment, food hygiene fields, as well as kitchen supplies, household daily miscellaneous products, etc.
9. Fluororubber (FPM) has excellent high temperature resistance (250 degrees) and good dielectric properties, as well as excellent oxidation resistance, oil resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, wear resistance and other excellent properties. The disadvantage is that the processing technology is relatively difficult. It is widely used in scientific fields such as aerospace, missiles and rockets, as well as various aspects of industrial equipment, such as hoses, seals, wires, diaphragms, tapes and other products as well as anti-corrosion linings.
10. Butyl rubber (IIR) has the best airtightness among all kinds of rubbers, excellent heat aging resistance, ozone aging resistance, and electrical insulation performance, and has a wide temperature range. It is widely used in tire inner tubes, vulcanization capsules, water tires, wind tires, auto parts, wires and cables, hoses, tapes, building waterproof sheets, plugging materials (such as medicine bottle caps), door and window seals, and chemical equipment anti-corrosion.
