Formula and processing technology of rubber products

Heat resistance, high temperature resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, pressure resistance, etc., determine the wide variety of rubber products. Therefore, for rubber seals used for mechanical seals, first of all, we must consider the requirements of the working environment. Then, comprehensive consideration is given to each production link. Finally, a reasonable formula and processing technology are formed.

The rubber materials of most rubber products will have relatively good elasticity and relatively low compression permanent deformation to meet the survival of different products in different environments. If it is a dynamic seal, the rubber material generally has a certain tensile strength, good wear resistance, and tear resistance.

Let's take the most common rubber o-ring rubber in life as an example.

The main indicators of the rubber o-ring rubber are: good high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, oil resistance, pressure resistance, small compression permanent deformation, certain mechanical strength, tear resistance, etc. Generally, the rubber o-ring rubber material will have heat resistance and oil resistance requirements, with nitrile rubber being the most. For example, acrylic rubber is generally used for those with high temperature requirements. If the rubber product is high temperature resistant and oil resistant, fluororubber is generally used.


How to increase the hardness of the O-ring rubber when the working pressure is high? First, we will think of increasing the amount of carbon black filling, but the filling amount must be appropriate. If it is too high, mixing is difficult, and the basic physical properties of the vulcanized rubber are damaged, and the rubber is prone to scorching.

If the heat resistance and oil resistance of the same rubber (such as nitrile rubber) are improved and its compression permanent deformation is reduced, peroxide vulcanization system and effective sulfur vulcanization system are generally used.

If the tear resistance of the rubber O-ring needs to be increased, highly active high wear-resistant carbon black can be used.
